The main exhibit, The Fiery Trial, is a 15,000 square feet permanent exhibition. It showcases significant Civil War artifacts important to the regional and national Civil War story using life-scale, interactive exhibits and audio and video technology. Guided and self-guided tours of the exhibit are available.

Reflecting on the theme, “Solidarity of Soldiers,” the Veterans Memorial Gallery features a scene of Civil War soldiers huddled around a campfire under a twilight sky.
