Designed for painters of all skill levels. Each of the four sessions will begin with a demonstration showcasing a technique of the day. Students are instructed on color mixing, application and removal, brush strokes, and instruction on the various papers and mediums in a relaxed environment devoted to the students’ personal styles. Subjects include landscapes and still life. A supply list will be sent to students when they sign up.

Start to discover the joy of working with polymer clay while creating a fun piece of wearable art. Students will learn how to prepare, use, and bake polymer clay pieces, make tassels from scratch, and use jewelry findings to connect those pieces together. Students will make at least one pair of earrings with the opportunity to create more if time permits. All supplies are included, no experience necessary.

Make your mark on some tea towels with this creative printing process.  Learn some tips and tricks for printing leaves on paper and on two tea dyed tea towels. These towels make great hostess gifts or lovely gifts for yourself!  If you are a gardener, please bring in a few leaves to print from your garden.  If not, we will have plenty of leaves to choose from.   All supplies are included, no experience needed.

Tai Chi

Enjoy the sunshine over the lake as you practice the gentle movements of Tai Chi from the warmth of the museum’s mezzanine. Tai Chi is a slow moving mind and body exercise, patterned after movements in nature. This class will cover some of the fundamental principles and exercises of Tai Chi, focusing on balance, breathing, and movement, while relaxing the body and. mind. No experience necessary, wear comfortable clothing for low impact exercise.

Mother’s Day Allium Pom Pom Pot: Caregiver and Child Class

Create this fabulous floral arrangement with your kiddo for a special mom or grandma in your family. This project will focus on how to make different size pom poms to create the blossoms of the allium plant. With a few other additions to your plant, you can make a faux flower that a mom or grandma would love as a gift! All supplies are included, no experience necessary.

Holiday Paint and Sip: Christmas Still Life

Students will work from a festive still-life of packages, bows, and oversized ornaments to finish a painting in this light-hearted class. Add sparkling snowflakes to finish your artwork. No prior painting experience is necessary. All materials provided.

 


Candy House Family Workshop

Spend part of your holiday season with your inner child and create a house good enough to eat! Using graham crackers, pretzel rods, cookies, frosting, candy, and your imagination, design and construct a fantasy house fit for Hansel and Gretel. All supplies included.

Children must be accompanied by a registered adult throughout the duration of the workshop. 

 


New Years Kids Camp

Learn about New Years traditions from around the world at this one-day camp! Participate in games and make crafts to get you and your family ready to ring in 2024.

Cancellations and Refunds

A full refund will be issued if the Kenosha Public Museum, Dinosaur Discovery Museum, or Civil War Museum cancels a workshop or camp.

All refunds requested within 72 hours of the program are subject to a $10 processing fee.

No refunds are offered on or after the day a workshop or camp begins.

Class cancellations can happen if enrollment minimums are not met two days prior to the event. You will be contacted via phone or email if your event is canceled.

If unforeseen circumstances (i.e. weather, power outages, instructor illness) occur within 72 hours of the workshop or camp and the program must be canceled, the museum will do its best to reschedule or provide a voucher to take a program of a similar or same cost.
