DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, August 13 |  6:00pm – 8:30pm  |  Instructor: Jayne Herring  |  $64 ($80 for non-members)  |  Register for Fused Glass 2-part Sun Catcher \nDesign a beautiful piece of glass art in this hands-on fused glass workshop focused on creating a two-part sun catcher. Participants will craft a layered glass design paired with a complementary hanging element\, resulting in a dynamic piece that catches and reflects light from multiple angles. \nNo prior glass experience is required. All materials and instruction are provided. Finished pieces will be kiln-fired\, then ready for pickup at a later date.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 15 (Rain Date: August 22)  |  10:30am – 12:30pm  |  Instructor: Kathy Laybourn  |  $56 ($70 for non-members)  |  Register for Encaustic Painting \nHave you ever made art by experimenting with melting crayons when you were a kid? This workshop is designed for anyone who would like to be introduced to the “cold wax” encaustic method.  Students will learn to add a soft\, beeswax mix into oil paint which is applied to an encaustic board and melted with a heat gun.  Successive layers of paint can be built up and mixed media elements can also be added to the layers to create both representational and abstract pieces of art.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 15  |  11am – 2pm  |  Instructor: Mami Takahashi  |  $88 ($110 for non-members)  |  Register for Kintsugi \nLearn the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. In this meditative workshop\, start by gluing the pieces back together\, curing the vessel\, and then highlighting the broken seams with powdered 14k gold or silver. Kintsugi is life’s way of saying\, “nobody’s perfect.” The path is not straight. In fact\, your hardest challenges\, deepest wounds\, and greatest fears are actually among the most beautiful\, precious\, and admirable parts of you.
