This workshop is designed for anyone who would like to be introduced to the “cold wax” encaustic method. Students will learn to add a soft\, beeswax mix into oil paint which is applied to an encaustic board and melted with a heat gun. Successive layers of paint can be built up and mixed media elements can also be added to the layers to create both representational and abstract pieces of art.

Using natural and dyed reed students will weave this basket to fit a plastic liner. A great basket for bedroom\, bath or office. This class is for people wanting to learn basic embroidery stitches or expand their repertoire. We will explore straight\, outline\, stem\, split\, stitches\, French knots\, satin stitches\, and buttonhole circles. using a Scandinavian bird design\, we will discuss how to start and layer the stitches. When finished\, you will have a small heat pillow with a wonderful scent. Recommended for age 12 and up.

Each of the four sessions will begin with a demonstration showcasing a technique of the day.
