Natural History & Fine Arts Museum

Summer Camps

The safety of students and staff is the museum’s priority. All camp sizes are limited, proper social distancing will be in place, and masks are required at all times.

Dinosaur Field Camp

Tuesday, July 6 – Thursday, July 8  |  10am – 12pm  |  $45 ($60 non-members)

Explore all things dinosaur, from excavating fossils to learning about how the animals lived millions of years ago. This camp includes a ride on the streetcar to visit the exhibit at the Dinosaur Discovery Museum.

 

 

 

Archaeology Expedition

Tuesday, July 13 – Thursday, July 15  |  10am – 12pm  |  $45 ($60 non-members)

What secrets are hidden from the past? Explore the science of archaeology, discover ancient cultures, and solve mysteries from history.

 

 

 

 

Civil War Baseball

Friday, July 30  |  1pm – 3:30pm  |  $15 ($30 non-members)
Register for ages 10-14

Children ages 10-14 will play baseball as it was played during the Civil War era. Learn the rules, baseball terms and phrases from the time period. Complete pitching, fielding, and batting practice before heading out onto the field to play a game. Then create your own baseball card to take home.  Please bring a water bottle and sunscreen, and wear weather appropriate clothing and athletic shoes.

 

 

 

Mission Space

Wizard Camp

Catch the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 3/4 straight to the Kenosha Public Museum for your favorite wizarding classes, and explore topics like biology, chemistry, art, and sports.

 

 

 

Lacrosse – The Fastest Game on Two Feet

Monday, August 16  |  1pm – 3:30pm  |  $15 ($30 non-members)
Register for ages 10-14

Children ages 10-14 will learn about North America’s oldest game, and fastest growing sport in the U.S.  Learn about lacrosse’s deep Native American roots and cultural importance, as well as the chance to learn to play lacrosse firsthand, including authentic equipment and gear, provided by Carthage College’s NCAA Lacrosse Team! Please bring a water bottle and sunscreen, and wear weather appropriate clothing and athletic shoes.

 

 

 

Exploring Ecosystems

Tuesday, August 17 – Thursday, August 19  |  10am – 12pm  |  $45 ($60 non-members)

Our backyards are amazing ecosystems filled with all sorts of wildlife; it’s like a science lab right at home! From the birds in the trees to all the creepy, crawly insects on the ground, explore the world of your backyard and beyond.

 

 

 

Dungeons & Dragons

Friday, August 20  |  9am – 2pm  |  $35 ($50 non-members)

Storytelling is an integral part of every culture around the world. Stories are used to explain the natural world, remember histories, and for entertainment. Through the vast fantasy of the Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting, learn about storytelling, create your own characters, and go on a fantastic adventure. If you’re ready, let’s roll initiative! Includes everything needed to lay including a set of dice, a character miniature, and a character sheet.  Please bring a bagged lunch.

 

 

 

Making Art

Tuesday, August 24 – Thursday, August 26  |  10am – 12pm  |  $45 ($60 non-members)

Anyone can be an artist, all you have to do is create. Learn about different forms of art and unleash your creativity!

 

 

 

 

Payment and Refunds

Payment in full is due at the time of registration.  Cancellations made at least two weeks prior to the start of the camp will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within two weeks of start date will not receive a refund.  A full refund will be issued if the museum cancels a camp.
