This exhibition from the Museum collection includes fine art etchings and stipple engravings of major historical figures by Francesco Bartolozzi. Fine artist and printmaker Bartolozzi (Italian, Florence 1728-1815 Lisbon) replicated drawings by Hans Holbein the Younger (German, Augsburg 1497/98-1543 London), official court painter to King Henry VIII.

The prints on display are from a larger portfolio in the Museum collection titled, “Imitations of Original Drawings by Holbein, in the Collection of His Majesty, for the Portraits of Illustrious Persons in the Court of Henry VIII,” completed in 1798.
