Dick Zimmerman’s workshop will give participants an introduction to the history of American artillery usage from colonial times through the Civil War with an emphasis on 1861-1865. The various types of guns employed, including foreign models, different types of artillery projectiles and powder charges along with historic engagements on specific Civil War battlefields will be reviewed. The Civil War Museum’s collection of guns and supporting artifacts will also be explored during the presentation.
