This rail travel is just bully, isn’t it? Why I hear we are going to cover up to 25 miles an hour on this trip. Imagine, Chicago to Washington in just two days?

I deal in livestock. My business is buying and selling horses, mules, beef; just about anything on four legs, or even three, you know.  I am on my way to Washington to sell my animals to the Army. I hear they are paying top dollar with the war and all. I have been buying up everything I can find. There is going to be a big demand for animals – beeves to feed the soldier boys, horses for the cavalry, wagon mules.

And you just wait – pigs!  Chicago is going to be the hog center of the world before all this is over! Want to get in on the ground floor, start buying up hogs.
