Soldier

Located in the Railroad Car

First time on the train? It is quite the new adventure these days. Seems everyone is coming or going somewhere.

I’m Lieutenant Brown of the Troy Union Guards. Nice to meet you. I am on my way to join my regiment which is with General McClellan outside Washington.

I was home on leave taking care of some family business. My wife and I have three children and I did not want to leave it as a burden to her.  I must admit I missed them all with my regiment and it was good to see them again.

I don’t quite know what to make of this war. I certainly did not expect the Southern states to leave the Union over the election of President Lincoln. You should see our soldiers at Washington. All volunteers and patriots…every single one. All ready to do his duty to end this rebellion.

It will be a short war, for sure. One big licking and the Rebels will quit.
