I am sorry. My son is usually better-behaved, but he is rather excited. It is his first ride on a train. I am Mrs. Robert Darling and we are going to visit his father who is meeting with the governor to secure a commission in the army.

Isn’t the news about the war just terrible? So many of the men are going. 

My husband was one of the first to say he was going to enlist to put down the rebellion. He says the secession of the Southern states is nothing more than treason.
