Old Abe and the 8th Wisconsin

Old Abe, the eagle mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry, traveled with the regiment and was present at over 30 battles and skirmishes that its soldiers participated in. By the end of the war, Old Abe was the most well-known animal mascot of the Civil War. At this SPARK! program, the group will learn the history of Old Abe and see pictures of him during and after the war. To celebrate his legacy, our group will also make bird-food streamers out of pine cones and apple slices to feed our local feathered friends.
Leaf Prints

Our group will celebrate the coming of fall by collecting leaves and making decorative leaf prints.
Exhibit: Women and Water: Woven Portraits from Around the World at the Kenosha Public Museum
Friday, November 21 | 2:00pm – 3:30pm
Our SPARK! group will tour the Kenosha Public Museum exhibit, Women and Water: Woven Portraits from Around the World then make a woven bookmark using yarn and creativity.
Christmas Candy Houses
Friday, December 19 | 2:00pm – 3:30pm
Bring your creativity to make a holiday-inspired house out of graham crackers, treats, and candy.
