Have you ever made art by experimenting with melting crayons when you were a kid? This workshop is designed for anyone who would like to be introduced to the “cold wax” encaustic method. Students will learn to add a soft, beeswax mix into oil paint which is applied to an encaustic board and melted with a heat gun. Successive layers of paint can be built up and mixed media elements can also be added to the layers to create both representational and abstract pieces of art.
