Jack D. Michaels Resource Center

The Jackson D. Michael’s Resource Center is home to many research materials for the casual visitor and Civil War enthusiast. Staff and volunteers are happy to assist you in your Civil War research. The Resource Center’s materials are for reference only and cannot be checked out. Most items can be photocopied for a nominal fee

The Resource Center also features family-friendly activities including Civil War era games, a dollhouse, children’s books, dress-up, a play schoolhouse class room, cabin and kitchen, and more.

More than 2,200 bound volumes are available to visitors by request. We recommend calling us at 262-926-5727 in advance of your visit so that a staff member can have the books you wish to browse ready upon your arrival.

Microfilm

The resource center holds 85 rolls of rare Wisconsin microfilm. This includes the Wisconsin Red and Blue books, as well as an assortment of Wisconsin newspapers from the Civil War era.
